engine died

Post  Brian on Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:41 pm

well then saturday was a sad sad day for the little red thing. the engine died. AA man says cambelt may have gone and bent a few rods or burnt something out but wont know for sure untill i strip it down.

luckily i have another engine lined up already but not got it yet. but the best of all is the place were it decided to give up, of all the places it would be the pub carark. think it was trying to tell me something lol. anyway gota get my new engine and get it slamed in and up and running smoothly again

Re: engine died

right then picked up the new engine from danbob on friday evening no problem.
started to take my engine out at about half twelve 1oclock time today. every thing that would fight did do getting the old out. finaly got the old engine out and the new one basicaly fell in apart from the usual lost bolt but soon found them anyway. got it all in and plumed up job done apart form wiring. started all of it working through it all and came across a couple off sensors that did not match up. turns ou that the facelift engine has differant plugs on it than the pre facelift that i had. tryed bodging it to make it work but no go. turns over fine but just doesnt fire because no way could we bodge the cam sensor and aparently it will not fire without it at all.

so what did we do after all the hard work for the engine not to work well. we thought fluck it put bonnet back on towed car back home. and whent for a pint.
just got to wait for the facelift loom and ecu to arrive and i will be riding again, shame it wasnt a straight forward swap as we immagined it to be. shame we whent through all that hard work and effort for the 5 ish hours for it not to work still

you dont need to change the wiring and ecu mate if u still have the old engine. the chances are it will be the same block and head so all you need to do is swap the corrisponding sensors accross

i would check the numbers and see if the ecu matches if they are then u shudnt have any bother if nt and the new one will plug in then all you should need to do is change the barrel unless u can take the chip out the key and swap it over
